Final bids for Odisha power project likely in April

Final bids for Odisha power project likely in AprilFinal bids for the Ultra Mega Power Project worth Rs 20,000 crore at Odisha is likely to be invited in April as the Power Ministry may finalise amendments in the bidding documents for this plant, an agency reported yesterday.

As many as 20 companies including Tata Power, Essar, Adani Group have qualified in the first round of bidding for the Odisha UMPP.

The amendments are required to proceed to the next round of bidding.

According to sources, Power Finance Corporation is likely to start the second (and the final) round of bidding for the 4,000 MW Bedabahal UMPP in Odisha in the second week of April.

In the mean time, officials in the Power Ministry said the comments for carrying out amendments to the standard bidding documents (SBDs) of the UMPPs have been received by the stakeholders and the government is the final stages of framing the new documents.

Referring to the same, a Power Ministry official told PTI, "We had invited comments from potential developers and other government bodies for tweaking the SBDs and we have received the comments and are finalising the changes. In a month, we would be able to take them to the Empowered Group Minister's for their approval."

After this, the RFP or Request for Proposal for the Odisha UMPP can be floated.
