The first trial run between Koderma to Hazaribagh will take place on November 1 on the auspicious occasion of the Dhantaras, with the completion of the first phase of the Koderma-Hazaribagh section, covering a distance of 76km of the Koderma-Hazaribagh-Barkakana-Ranchi B road guage railway line of the East Central Railway

Yashwant Sinha, the Hazaribag MP   on Wednesday, held a review meeting with the railway engineers of the project to know the progress of the railway track. They informed him that now the track is ready for trial.

The government had given January 31 deadline to East Central Railway for completing the first phase of the Hazaribag-Koderma track as part of the Koderma-Hazaribag-Barkakana-Ranchi rail project, which has been delayed by two years. But work got further delayed due to villagers' protest against construction of railway bridges at Katkumsandi PS and Manjhgawan under Padma police station.

The Rs 900-crore Koderma-Hazaribag rail stretch will cover nine stations.  One, the most scenic stretch of this is the 200km journey will be between Barkakana and Ranchi, with the train running on an altitude of 200-400ft above sea level, crossing three tunnels and a dozen big and 113 small bridges and 28 road overbridges
