VDA soon to redevelop roads, parks and ghats in Varanasi

The board of Varanasi Development Authority (VDA) took many important decisions for redevelopment of roads, parks and ghats at a meeting held on Saturday, upon annual budget approved on for financial year 2012-13, reported TOI.

Vice chairman of VDA RP Goswami informed that the annual budget of Rs 20,231.04 lakh was approved by the board. He said the VDA would seek loan of Rs 68 crore from HUDCO nut added that an aide of Rs 17 crore would be given by the state government. Apart from it, the VDA would also make major earning by selling plots and buildings.

He said to facilitate the builders, amendments had been made in group housing projects and reserving 10% flats for economically weaker section and lower income group had been made a must in the group housing projects of 3000 sq metre area and above.

He said orders had been issued for the regularisation of four out of over 200 illegal colonies. The board also ordered to launch drives on regular basis against the illegally constructed buildings from April, he said adding, the district administration had assured to provide adequate force to escort the teams, which would continue this drive.

He said the layout plan of ambitious Transport Nagar project had also been approved by the board and after the end of registration process by March 20, the allotment of plots would be started. The board also gave its approval principally for allocating a fund of Rs 17.16 crore from establishment fund for revival of stream of the Varuna and beginning of water transport facility against the total cost estimated in the detailed project report of Rs 171.60 crore.
