Tamil Nadu is one of the most industrialised states in the country. In terms of contribution to the manufacturing sector and the net state domestic product, the state ranks next to Maharashtra. The state has progressed a lot and the its GDP has grown at an impressive rate of 10.69%, reaching $58.63 billion. The income distribution in Tamil Nadu shows that the number of households in the higher income category is much higher than the all India average, which is a sign of prosperity. If we compare the state in terms of ownership of assets, including personal vehicle and consumer electronics, Tamil Nadu is way ahead, in comparison to the rest of India.
